Race Track Lights

Description of Race Track Lights:

Some people even find themselves leaving for work before dawn and returning home after dark in the wintertime. Unless you have race track lights, your hobby will be pushed back to the shorter winter weekend days. Additionally, if you are in the middle of a race, without lights at the track, you will have to stop due to fading sunlight. This is a great disappointment for many race fans who believe that the only way to end a race is with a checkered flag.

It is not difficult to choose your own race track lighting. In fact, it is very similar to horse arena lighting on a larger scale. You do need to be aware though, that for the optimal lighting capabilities, you will probably need high voltage lights.

These require a professional electrician to install them. This is due to the dangers of working with such high levels of electricity. The electrician will also know about any permits that must be gotten or restrictions on times when the lights can be on due to local municipal laws. It is his job to be aware of the governmental red tape that accompanies the installation of high voltage race track lighting.

Race track lights requirements levels:

Taking into account the particularity of motorcycle racing, the lighting design must avoid the effects of shadows and light reflections, so that the driver can clearly see the warning flag and the brake sign at 300km/h. The most challenging lighting design is to provide high-quality lighting at multiple 180-degree turns on the track, while the lighting system is also in line with the audience’s viewing and TV broadcast requirements.

Lighting design requirements for racing track lighting:

high-speed racing requires complete concentration, and the racers need to response any emergencies on the track. In general, 700 to 1000 lux level would be the minimum requirement for the race track flood lights, depending on the special requirement imposed by the racing association like NYRA, the horizontal and vertical lux level can be up to 1500 to 2000 lux.

There are two types of lux levels, namely horizontal and vertical. The former one means the brightness on the ground and (horizontal surface), while the latter one is the illumination on the side of the sports cars. The optimal ratio is approx. 1:1, which gives the best lighting quality inside the racing arena.

We may be confused when it comes to luminary selection. Let’s take a look at the following example.
