IP Rating Definition
IP (Or "Ingress Protection") Ratings Are Defined In International Standard EN 60529 (British BS EN 60529:1992, European IEC 60509:1989). An Ingress Protection (IP) rating of a product is represented by two numbers. The first number determines the protection rating against solid objects or materials. The second number determines the protection rating against the ingress of liquid/moisture.
What Do The Digits In An IP Rating Mean?

The Second Digit Represents Protection Against Ingress Of Liquids.
The Ingress Protection or IP rating is an important consideration during the selection of LED lighting products for any project. The IP rating reflects the suitability of the light fitting to specific environmental conditions in indoor and outdoor installations.
The first digit of an IP rating refers to the level of protection against solids, including dust particles, mosquitoes, moths, or flies. The second digit indicates the protection level against liquid with the number also providing guidance when it comes to on-site cleaning routines using sprays or water jets.
While dust resistance levels progress from 0 to 6, the water resistance rating is provided in a 0 to 9 range. In some cases, an X may be interchanged with one of the digits if it is not relevant to the requirements, for instance, IP4X.
An IP rating does not correlate to vandalism or other physical protection from impact; a separate classification called IK rating is used for this purpose.
IP Rating chart
A two-digit rating system established by the International Electrotechnical Commission, used to identify the level of protection against the ingress (entry) of foreign objects into the enclosure for a piece of electronic equipment.
As referenced in IEC/EN 60 529 standards, a product’s ingress protection is indicated by the two code letters IP followed by two numerals, each representing different forms of environmental influence. The larger the value of each digit, the greater the protection.

Example: IP65 rated LED flood light
The two digits represent different forms of environmental influence:
The first digit (6) indicates protection against the ingress of dust and all other solid objects.
The second digit (5) indicates protection against low pressure jets of water from any direction.
This IP65 rated outdoor LED light would be better protected against environmental factors than another similar product rated as, for example, IP42.

What is the difference between IP65, IP67？
IP65 - IP rated as "dust tight" and protected against water projected from a nozzle. “Protected against water jets from any angle” do not submerge IP65 LED lights, these are not waterproof.
IP 67 - IP rated as "dust tight" and protected against immersion “Protected against the events of temporary submersion (10 minutes) , so do not submerge IP67 LED lights for extended periods.
