Applications

Why Safety-Critical Facilities Choose Razorlux

Certified Explosion Protection

Our hazardous area lighting fixtures comply with worldwide hazardous site regulations—ATEX, UL 844, IECEx—meeting OSHA 1910.307 criteria. The innovative ADC12 die-cast aluminium enclosure has certain internal defects but nonetheless provides IP68 protection against water and dust penetration.

Built for Extreme Conditions

The lights operate from -30°C to +50°C, and are resistant to corrosive salt spray (C5-M rating), chemical exposure and mechanical damage. The powder-coated finish and tempered glass (95% light transmittance) guarantee long-term performance on offshore platforms and subterranean mines.

Hazardous Area Lighting Fixtures

Reduced Maintenance in Dangerous Zones

L70 lifespan exceeds 80,000 hours—minimizing lamp replacements in permit-required confined spaces. Solid-state LED design eliminates warm-up time, providing instant illumination during emergency re-energization.

Engineering Backed by Research

Since 2006, our Xi'an LED Lighting Engineering Laboratory (certified by China's National Development and Reform Commission) has developed thermal management solutions through university partnerships. Over 150 patents cover heat dissipation, optical design, and explosion containment.

Applications

Oil & Gas Facilities

Upstream drilling platforms and downstream refineries require fixtures that withstand C5-M salt-spray corrosion while maintaining flame-proof integrity in Class I Div 1 zones. Powder-coated finishes prevent rust during 20+ year offshore deployments.

Chemical Processing

Reactors that work with volatile solvents require sealed housings that can withstand chemical deterioration. Our design is rated IP68, protecting internal electronics from cryogenic storage of -30°C to the reactor zones of +50°C.

Mining Operations

Vibration resistant illumination is required for underground coal mining and surface mineral processing. Tempered glass resists shock waves from explosions and rapid LED re-strike prevents hazardous dark periods following power disruptions.

Packaging and Transportation

Grain Handling & Milling

Combustible dust (Zone 21/22) needs fixtures with low surface temperature. The 2.0mm aluminium PCB maintains LED junction temperatures below dust-cloud ignition limits during sustained operation.

Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

We also provide ATEX approved designs for solvent handling facilities with Zone 2 vapour ratings. Anti-glare optics decrease eye strain while doing precise work, and the sealed structure helps eliminate cleanroom contamination.

Packaging and TransportationFrequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between explosion proof and weather proof lights ?

Weather-proof fittings (IP65) withstand only the intrusion of water. Explosion resistant designs : Internal explosion protection , temperature limits of the control surfaces ( T-ratings ) , flame-path glands to prevent igniting from outside . NEC Article 500 says certified hazardous area fixtures, basic weather-proof lights violate OSHA 1910.307.

How to Choose the Right T-Rating?

Match the maximum surface temperature of the fixture to the gas auto-ignition temperature of your facility. For gases with an ignition point of 100 °C state T5 (max 100 °C) or below. Our aluminium PCB thermal management offers higher T-ratings than typical designs.

Why LED instead of typical HID lamps?

LEDs have quick re-strike capability upon power restoration (important for safety), are more vibration resistant than filament/arc lights and emit less heat for enhanced T-ratings. Longer service life means 80% less maintenance interventions in tight spaces.”

What maintenance is required?

Inspect flame paths for corrosion or gaps, verify gasket compression, check cable gland tightness, and ensure no unauthorized modifications. Never paint over heat dissipation surfaces. The 80,000-hour L70 rating minimizes lamp replacement needs.

Can I use 0-10V dimming in hazardous areas?

Yes, if the dimming circuit maintains certification. Our MEANWELL HLG drivers support 0-10V dimming while preserving ATEX/UL compliance. Consult facility electrical drawings to confirm compatibility with existing control systems.
